Aqsense has launched SAL3D (3D Shape Analysis Library, in C++ API), offering the latest functionalities to OEMs and systems integrators. The library is designed for those developing quality control and 100 per cent production in-line inspection applications. The library is built upon a modular configuration based on four tools.
The peak detector tool enhances the extraction of profile co-ordinates from laser stripe images. Capable of distinguishing Z-steps of 5microns, with a camera-laser set up of 90 degrees and field of view of 130mm. The metric calibration tool provides an easy calibration procedure using a specially designed object, obtaining true XYZ metric co-ordinates, allowing metric measurements and avoiding perspective distortion.
The merger tool minimises occlusions by using multi-camera configurations, merging their images into a single, smooth one. The match3D tool provides 3D inspection and measurement of free-form objects. Defects can be detected by comparing scanned parts with their model. The ultra-fast registration method allows 'mathematical' alignment, avoiding expensive mechanical fixtures and allowing 100 per cent control at production-line speed.
