Item has added the T-Slot Slider to its Line-8 aluminium machine kit system, available from Machine Building Systems (MBS). This consists of a zinc die-cast body, which is 80mm long and 40mm wide and is fitted with free-running plastic inserts. This slider dovetails into the Item 8mm slot with a small amount of play to give a robust low-friction linear slide in any Line-8 profile.
No additional lubrication is required and the slide can be used under difficult ambient conditions (such as dust and humidity). The zinc body serves to give the slide rigidity under load and incorporates M6 hex nuts to allow the attachment of parts or frame structures. The T-Slot Slider is suitable for low-cost mechanisms such as sliding doors, counterweights or any slide where a little play is acceptable. It is designed for low to moderate loads and no maintenance is required.
Two different mounting kits are available, which allow for either a fixed- or a floating-bearing arrangement. These are designed for applications where, typically, four sliders are to be attached to a rigid assembly, which is to run on two separate parallel profiles. The T-Slot Slider is in stock at the MBS facility in Ripley, Derbyshire.
